Caring support while you grieve.

Grief & Loss Counseling in Baytown, TX & online throughout Texas & Tennessee.

You don’t have to navigate the pain of loss alone.

You know it’s normal to feel sad or down, but it’s become more than that. We all experience loss in life, however sometimes it hangs around longer and causes more fallout than we were prepared for.

Can you relate?

  • Are you playing your loss over and over in your mind, analyzing and sorting through the many details? And instead of bringing comfort, you feel more exhausted and sadder than before?

  • Do you notice you are isolating from others and don’t want to return to normal activities? You know you should spend time with people, or return to work, but you just can’t.

  • Is your sleep out of sorts? Maybe sleeping too much or having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Is this affecting your ability to show up for your life in the way you want to?

  • Since your loss, have your eating habits changed? Maybe you’re overeating to soothe yourself or escape or you feel so distracted, sad or anxious that you are forgetting to eat altogether?

  • Do you want to talk about what happened, but it seems everyone else has moved on?

When you experience a loss for whatever reason, many areas of your life are affected, including your most important relationships:

You may feel disoriented or confused or frustrated by simple tasks.

You get irritated or angry toward others more easily than before.

You struggle to focus and concentrate at home and work, affecting your productivity.

You struggle with new fears or experience panic.

Process your pain with someone who sees you and knows how to support you.

Let’s do this together. Here’s how.

I Listen. Each person experiences grief and loss in their own way. How it shows up for you will be different from how it shows up for me. I use our initial sessions to learn from you so I can better understand your unique experience of grief and how loss is affecting you. You’re the expert on your own experience and you get to decide on your goals.

I Educate. I help you understand why and how your body and mind are reacting the way they are to your grief. I share knowledge and resources to make sure you have the information you need to feel equipped. I teach you ways to more accurately identify your emotions, needs, and desires, so you can begin to heal from the pain of loss.

I Guide. After I’ve taught you the tools, I guide you on how to use them. We practice together and I may offer you homework to reinforce what we’re learning during the session. When we try something that works, we add it to your toolbox, and when something doesn’t work, we move on and find another strategy. If in our work together, we discover past grief or trauma that is complicating your current experience, we’ll work through it together.

I Encourage. One of the most important benefits of therapy is having an objective person to listen, educate, guide and encourage you so you never feel alone. I encourage you throughout the process of therapy, but one of my most important roles is to point out the growth you’re making and remind you of the progress I’m seeing in you. Grief is tricky because it can feel like you take two steps forward and three steps back at times. Let me encourage you and help you see the progress you’re making.

I Support. I support you as you process, accept and heal through your pain and loss. Our therapy becomes less about teaching and practicing skills, or even about you sharing your story as I listen. It evolves into your ability to feel your pain, accept reality, grow in suffering, and move forward with confidence.

Imagine how it might feel to work through your grief in private, so you can show up again as yourself in your day-to-day life. Little by little, gaining the confidence to engage with friends, family or coworkers. Trusting that you are healing in a healthy way and are more in control of your emotions. Finally getting some rest and feeling more like yourself.
